Codex 0.157.0 adds GPT-6 Sol and Luna and includes migration prompts for older model selections. The release notes also call out Amazon Bedrock support, giving teams another deployment path to test when moving Codex workflows to the new model family.
Fullscreen transcripts are now enabled by default. Users can extend transcript selections with Shift-click, and an f shortcut can fork a conversation opened in another app while preserving drafts and queued prompts.
Background and remote workflows
Codex now starts its background server automatically for eligible interactive sessions. When server settings are incompatible, the release offers recovery choices instead of leaving the session without a clear next step.
The /import command is available in remote sessions and local background-server sessions. Codex also preserves active voice conversations when switching threads, which helps keep a long-running session from being lost during navigation.
Terminal and display polish
The release improves terminal rendering with Unicode bullets, checkboxes, aligned equations, and optimization notation. These changes are small, but clearer output matters when a coding agent’s transcript is also the primary review surface for commands, diffs, and tool results.
As with any CLI release, pin the version in CI and test the model migration, Bedrock credentials, background-server lifecycle, remote /import, and transcript behavior before rolling it across unattended environments.
