Warp Agent CLI August update: orchestration, debugging, and Grok connections

Warp’s 2026.08.13 release (v0.2026.08.12.21.54) focuses on the Warp Agent CLI and its cloud-agent workflow. The changelog adds clearer orchestration navigation, keeps failed cloud-agent runs available for debugging, and introduces a direct /connect-grok connection flow.

Better navigation for orchestrated agents

The Warp Agent CLI’s Agents bar now mirrors the GUI’s multi-level orchestration. Warp says users can drill into an orchestrating child’s level, follow breadcrumbs back up, and see subtree rollup badges.

This makes a hierarchy of agent runs easier to inspect without losing the relationship between a parent orchestrator and its child agents.

Failed cloud-agent runs remain attachable

Previously, a failed cloud-agent run could become unreachable after it stopped. Warp’s changelog says failed runs now stay open and attachable for debugging instead.

The release also adds platform information to cloud-agent run details, including a macOS or Linux icon alongside the architecture and runner. Together, those changes make it easier to understand where a run executed and continue investigating a failed run from the same workflow.

Connect a Grok subscription from the CLI

Warp added a /connect-grok TUI slash command that jumps directly into connecting a Grok account, including X Premium or SuperGrok. Warp’s official account also announced that Grok 4.6 is available in Warp and the Warp Agent CLI.

The CLI’s August 7 launch and customization announcements describe the broader direction: the standalone agent can run in other terminals and IDEs, while its settings.toml file can be customized with themes, animations, and a user-arranged status line.

Input, completions, and reliability fixes

The same release includes several practical fixes:

• Long-running commands in Warp Agent CLI now accept keyboard input.
• Background orchestrated agents no longer steal focus from the active session.
• The model picker applies to the current session and identifies the profile default instead of changing every session’s default.
• Agent CLI tab completion now includes desktop completion sources and native-shell fallback behavior.
• The input field no longer occasionally renders without a cursor after temporary interactions.
• Code blocks no longer include box borders, making output easier to select and copy.

The release also adds completions for tools including vagrant, openssl, and journalctl, alongside inline suggestions for the Yandex Cloud CLI and git worktree names.
