Google Antigravity CLI adds remote-control service management and safer approvals

Google’s Antigravity CLI has shipped a set of September updates focused on model control, headless execution, and long-running remote sessions. The official changelog lists versions 1.1.27 and 1.1.28 on September 5 and September 9, followed by a September 10 release that adds persistent remote-control service management.

Remote control can run as a background service

The September 10 release adds service-manager subcommands for remote control, allowing the CLI to run the remote-control service as a persistent background daemon. The same release broadens half-page scrolling and keybindings and fixes issues involving content filters, scratch-directory watchers, plugin MCP initialization, schema validation, and conversation resumption.

A background service can make a remote agent easier to reach, but it also creates a durable process with access to the configured workspace. Teams should review which user starts it, which network interfaces it exposes, and how the service is stopped before using it on shared or production machines.

More resilient headless and model workflows

Version 1.1.28 improves retry behavior for transient model API errors with extended exponential backoff. It also speeds startup and sign-in by reading cached credentials, streamlines headless execution and error reporting, and makes tool approval prompts more useful by including contextual action descriptions and reasons.

Version 1.1.27 adds mid-conversation model execution through /model, supports custom-agent subagent dependencies, and fixes MCP parameter validation. Earlier September releases add workspace-grouped /resume navigation, Gemini 3.8 Flash to the model catalog for GEMINI_API_KEY users, comments and trailing commas in mcp_config.json, and cleaner headless stream shutdown.

Practical upgrade notes

The updates are CLI changes rather than a new Antigravity desktop release. The changelog groups them with fixes for plugin reinstalls, plugin MCP working directories, subagent lifecycle states, command memory leaks, and Windows skill paths. Check the installed CLI version and test model selection, approval prompts, MCP configuration, remote-control lifecycle, and non-interactive exit behavior in the environments where the CLI runs.
