Google Antigravity adds embedded tools, plan review, and direct subagent messaging

Google Antigravity shipped a concentrated set of late-August updates across its desktop product, CLI, and Python SDK. Version 2.10.0 adds embedded development tools; version 2.11.0 adds generative UI; and adjacent CLI and SDK releases improve remote control, voice, model selection, and custom-tool workflows.

Embedded terminal and Git-native version control

Antigravity 2.10.0, dated August 24, introduces an embedded terminal and Git-native version control directly in the sidebar. The same release adds audio file attachments, interactive image commenting, rich MCP tool-execution previews, and performance improvements.

Keeping these tools next to the agent workspace can reduce context switching, but teams should still review the commands, repository state, and MCP actions before allowing an agent to make consequential changes.

Inline interactive artifacts

Antigravity 2.11.0, dated August 26, adds generative UI that renders HTML artifacts inline in chat. Google’s accompanying product post describes interactive HTML/CSS/JavaScript components, live charts, diagrams, and visual representations of complex data that can be inspected in the artifact preview and exported as standalone HTML.

The visual tooling is intended to let an agent prototype and iterate on an interactive result instead of stopping at markdown or a static image. The product post says the visualizations render on the user’s machine without downloading additional packages or dependencies and can run offline.

CLI and SDK improvements

Late-August CLI releases add /voice dictation, embedded ripgrep code search, status-line cost metrics, and UTF-8 fixes. The CLI also gains model-selection command arguments, reasoning-effort autocomplete, transient retry handling, dynamic remote-control port allocation, and more predictable headless behavior.

The Python SDK adds subagent-scoped custom tools, an on_compaction lifecycle hook, universal JSON Schema normalization for custom tools targeting local OpenAI-compatible endpoints, and Vertex authentication overrides. These features are useful for teams building custom agent workflows, but the changelog notes that new versions roll out gradually and may take a few days to reach all users.

September follow-up: Gemini 3.8 Flash and CLI updates

Antigravity 2.12.2, dated September 3, adds access to Gemini 3.8 Flash through ADC for AGY Enterprise users. Version 2.12.0, dated September 2, adds quoting, /boost, and several settings and chat improvements.

The Antigravity CLI also moved through versions 1.1.23–1.1.26 in early September. The official CLI changelog lists improvements to model selection and the /resume picker, Gemini 3.8 Flash in the model catalog for GEMINI_API_KEY users, MCP configuration parsing, headless stream cleanup, artifact navigation, and worktree/session reliability.

These releases extend the August desktop updates rather than replacing them. Because Antigravity rolls out versions gradually, teams should check the installed desktop and CLI versions before assuming every control is available.

September 18–22: plan review and richer local workflows

Antigravity 2.15.0, dated September 18, adds custom-agent controls and keyboard navigation. Custom agents can turn off default prompts and tools, and the selected agent persists after a reload. The release also adds Page Up, Page Down, Home, End, and Escape navigation in conversations.

Antigravity 2.16.0, dated September 22, adds a Windows Subsystem for Linux connection in Application Settings, lets users drop Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files into a prompt, shows live cards for subagents that can be followed or stopped, and adds right-click image copy and save actions.

Antigravity 2.17.0, also dated September 22, introduces /plan. The agent drafts a plan that can be read and edited before code is written, and the setting is now called Plan Review Policy. Users can require review for every plan, review only when the agent judges it worthwhile, or skip review.

The same changelog lists Antigravity CLI 1.2.8 improvements to proportional context-compaction budgets, full-window sizing, custom-model PDF and audio support, Ctrl+G terminal launches, voice-dictation recording limits, and resource and memory-leak fixes. Antigravity SDK 0.1.18 adds LiteRT and LocalOpenAI local-model support plus additional local tool controls.

The desktop features change what files and local environments an agent can reach. Review WSL distribution access, Office attachment handling, custom-agent prompt/tool defaults, and plan-approval policy before enabling them on shared workstations.

Antigravity 2.14: enterprise terminal and Git access

Antigravity 2.14.0, released September 15, adds the integrated terminal and Git version control in the sidebar for Enterprise and Business accounts. The release also introduces clearer Global Permissions and Inherit Global labels, faster long-history loading, and better handling of agent scratch files.

The changelog fixes a memory leak from completed terminal commands, improves retries for transient service errors, and fixes cases where local Git hooks or global Git configuration could prevent internal checkpoints from being saved. Google says desktop versions roll out gradually, so availability may lag the changelog date.

Teams should verify which account tier and permission scope are active before relying on terminal or Git controls. The new labels make the settings easier to interpret, but they do not replace reviewing the commands and repository changes an agent proposes.

September 28–30 follow-up: plugins and subagent controls

Antigravity 2.18.1, dated September 28, adds a Customizations tab and marketplace for discovering, installing, and managing plugins. The release also improves archived-conversation filtering, makes terminal commands in permission prompts easier to inspect, and clarifies plugin-provided slash commands and token-usage breakdowns.

Antigravity 2.19.1, dated September 30, lets users message a subagent directly from the message box rather than routing the message through the main agent. Rendered Markdown in artifacts and in files open in the side pane can be exported as a PDF. The undo confirmation can revert only the conversation, and on Windows and Linux a left-click on the tray icon reopens or focuses the Antigravity window.

The release also changes select-all behavior so Cmd+A or Ctrl+A selects the focused content pane or terminal. Google says desktop releases roll out gradually and may take a few days to reach all users, so check the installed version before relying on the new controls.
