Anthropic's October Claude Platform release notes list several changes for API developers and Enterprise administrators. They include a beta organization analytics API, a beta Slack administration API, a larger first-party request limit, and a new API version with updated client SDKs. Usage and Cost Analytics API enters beta
On October 29, Anthropic introduced the beta Usage and Cost Analytics API for Claude Console and Claude Enterprise organizations. The two endpoints, /v1/organizations/analytics/usage and /v1/organizations/analytics/cost, report historical usage and cost and can group results by dimensions such as model, workspace, API key, and the user or service account behind a request. Requests require the analytics-usage-cost-2026-08-24 beta header and an API version header. (https://docs.anthropic.com/en/release-notes/api; https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/manage-claude/usage-cost-analytics-api)
The documentation says data typically refreshes within four hours and can take up to 24 hours. Late events may revise results until about seven days after the month ends. Anthropic describes the older Usage and Cost API and Enterprise report endpoints as legacy, but says they remain supported. Teams migrating reports should check the new pagination, grouping, and freshness behavior rather than assuming the new endpoints return the same rows as the older reports. Claude Tag API is limited to Enterprise
The October 23 beta adds organization endpoints for reading and changing Claude Tag settings on Slack channels and workspaces, checking where a setting comes from, and attaching access bundles. It requires an Admin API key with the read:claude_tag or write:claude_tag scope created by the organization's primary owner. Anthropic says this API is for Claude Enterprise organizations and is not available to Claude Platform Console organizations. (https://docs.anthropic.com/en/release-notes/api)
Larger requests and a new API version
On October 28, Anthropic raised the maximum request size for the Messages and Token Counting APIs on the first-party Claude API from 32 MB to 128 MB. The release note does not say that the same limit applies through cloud platforms. (https://docs.anthropic.com/en/release-notes/api)
Anthropic also released API version 2026-10-21. Python SDK 2.0.0, TypeScript SDK 1.0.0, C# SDK 13.0.0, Go SDK 2.0.0, Java SDK 3.0.0, PHP SDK 1.0.0, Ruby SDK 2.0.0, and the ant CLI 2.0.0 send that version by default. Anthropic warns that the SDK and CLI releases include breaking changes independent of the API version, and that their license changed from MIT to Apache 2.0. Review the migration guide and package terms before upgrading. (https://docs.anthropic.com/en/release-notes/api)
