Warp Factories moves from closed beta to Early Access

Warp has introduced Warp Factories, an infrastructure layer for building cloud software factories around the software-development lifecycle. The August 18, 2026 announcement targets teams that want agents to triage, specify, implement, review, verify, and monitor work instead of handling every task as an isolated interactive run.

A coordinated workflow rather than a single agent
A factory receives work from tools such as Slack, Teams, Linear, Jira, GitHub, GitLab, Sentry, terminals, and IDEs. A foreman agent coordinates the workflow and dispatches specialized agents for stages such as triage, specification, implementation, review, and verification.
Warp says teams can start incrementally with one stage, such as triage or computer-use verification, and add more agents and automations as the workflow matures. Humans remain in the loop at key decision points and can intervene, steer, or bring work into a local setup.
Factory definitions as code
Warp Factories are defined as version-controlled code. A factory can specify repositories, agents, skills, MCPs, permissions, automations, and runners. Because the definition is code, teams can roll versions forward or back, test changes, canary them, and let agents propose improvements through pull requests.
Warp also provides a control-room web application for live and historical runs, work-item status, automations, and factory configuration. The platform includes APIs, an SDK, a CLI, and a Factory MCP for sending work into a factory, checking status, guiding sessions, and pulling work back for local iteration.
Models, harnesses, and measurement
The announcement emphasizes that teams can choose the model and harness that fit each part of the workflow. Warp says factories can run Claude Code or Codex as harnesses and can use open-weight models. Built-in measurements cover throughput, cost, quality, ROI, token usage, code quality, and defects, while custom scorers can evaluate an organization’s own definition of success.

The design also supports self-improvement loops: observer agents can score runs, test configuration changes, and open pull requests that modify factory behavior. These claims describe the platform’s announced capabilities, not a guarantee that every factory will improve without human evaluation and governance.
Availability and the $10,000 offer
Warp Factories have moved into Early Access. Warp’s August 25 and August 27 changelog entries say the product is live in Early Access, updating the closed-beta status in the original launch article. Warp’s launch materials also describe a limited onboarding offer that can include $10,000 of factory usage for selected participants. Teams should check the current access flow rather than assume the earlier closed-beta wording still applies.
Teams evaluating the beta should plan for their own factory definitions, integrations, permissions, and review policies. Warp provides the infrastructure and control plane, while the team owns and customizes the workflow it builds on top.
