Cursor Origin brings early-beta code hosting to paid plans

Cursor is rolling out Origin, an early-beta code-hosting platform integrated with its editor and agents. The August 17, 2026 release starts with repositories, pull requests, code browsing, and GitHub synchronization, while Cursor says agent-native features are coming soon.

Repositories built for agent workflows

Origin repositories live in Cursor’s Codebase tab. Users can create a new repository, install the Origin CLI, clone the repository, or push a local project. Cursor says hosted code can be browsed, searched, and pulled from the Origin copy.

Origin also supports syncing selected GitHub repositories. Synced repositories update in real time, and Cursor’s release notes say pushes for repositories that began on GitHub continue to go to GitHub, which remains the source of truth for that work.

Pull requests and code review in one surface

The initial beta includes pull-request workflows: users can create and manage pull requests, inspect timelines, commits, checks, and changed files, review diffs, comment, and merge. Cursor also says its agent can answer questions about browsed code, make changes, update a pull request, or push a branch.

Those features make Origin more than a repository mirror. They connect code browsing, review, and agent-assisted changes in the same product surface, while preserving GitHub as the authoritative home for projects that started there.

Integrations with deployment and CI tools

Cursor’s announcement lists integrations with Vercel, Depot, and Buildkite. Vercel can create preview deployments for pull requests and deploy to production after a merge. Depot and Buildkite can connect existing CI workflows, and Buildkite’s native pipelines are also supported.

The integrations are available through a repository’s Apps tab. Cursor says more integrations are planned.

Availability and caveats

Origin is rolling out in early beta to all paid plans. Enterprise organizations can opt out through their administrators. Cursor also notes that anyone with read or write access to a synced repository can view it in Cursor, so teams should review repository access before syncing code.

The first release is intentionally focused on core hosting and collaboration. Cursor says agent-native features will ship later, so teams should treat the current product as an early code-hosting beta rather than a finished replacement for every Git workflow.
